We have been getting quite a few phone calls asking if we have any kittens because people want to give them as a Christmas present.
We do not have any kittens. We do however have lots of other cats of all different ages.
Although initially it might seem like a very sweet, good idea, you really need to think about it’s future. Ask yourself if that person actually has the time and money to spend with a kitten. They really are not just for Christmas….they are for life….the same with any animal at any age.
We do not have any kittens at this time of year. Generally cats come into season in Spring and kittens are mostly born in the warmer months.
If they are genuinely after a pet kitten, then why not get them a little present for their future pet and let that be a hint as to what you will get them when kittens are available.
Please note, we do not advertise our kittens and we DO NOT keep a list of people wanting them.

Photo taken from the internet, we did not put little Santa hats on these kittens as they are not ours!

We have had to say a very sad final goodbye to our beloved house cat Kuga. He came into the sanctuary in February 2012 with bad ears which were later removed due to skin cancer. He was estimated to be in his late teens and he certainly had a great final few years in the bungalow with the other house cats.
Everybody who has been to the sanctuary would have no doubt been greeted at the gate by our loveable, earless old friend.
He certainly was a character and always tried his luck with everyone for a bit of extra food. He loved drinking from the big blue egg water feature and we always found him snoozing in a sunny spot on warm days.
He certainly will be very much missed.
Rest in Peace Kuga xxx

The Christmas Fair held at the Holy Trinity Church Hall on Saturday 21st November raised a fantastic total amount of £1,121. This money will go towards the care of the 200+ cats in the sanctuary over Christmas.
Given the rotten weather on the day, it was wonderful to see so many of our friends come and support the event and spend and donate so generously.
Almost everything sold at this event is made or given by our staff, trustees and supporters.
All of the cakes were homemade by co Manageresses Claire and Tracey with the help from a long time supporter Mary.
A big thank you to Diane Thompson, Ron Streater, Thelma Jinks and Ted Cooper for their contributions to the feast.
Also to Thelma and Colin Jinks, Ted and Gill Cooper and Peter Jell for helping Tracey, Claire and Mike Whibley set up the stalls the night before and then to put it all away afterwards.
The poor weather may have put people off which meant that it wasn’t our best result ever but still such an enjoyable and rewarding day.
A big thank you to everyone who visited but also to the stars of the event, the sanctuary cats Billy, Charlie and Evie and Harry who were all very well behaved. Big tabby Charlie even managed to get himself a new home. Also a couple who had attended the fair then came up to the sanctuary and took home Walter and Jesse so a brilliant result. Hopefully the others will find new homes very soon.

Our turkey is on the counter in the reception so if you’re passing by, please stuff our turkey with any spare change. All the money donated will go towards lots of turkeys which we will roast and dish out to all the 200+ cats in the sanctuary, the ferals, the FIV’s and the cats in boarding (with their owners consent) on Christmas Day. If you can’t make it up to the sanctuary then please donate via our PayPal. Many thanks.

As some of you may know, Claire Jell, co Manageress, did a sponsored wing walk on the 3rd of October.
A brilliant £650 was raised so a big thank you to everybody that sponsored her for doing such a crazy thing to help all our cats.

We have a building that we call the Kittery and we are in desperate need of some new beds. The ones we have are very old so we need to replace them.
The ones we have chosen are much better quality and hopefully the mums to be and mums with kittens will be much happier in them.
These beds are costly at £198 each because they are heated and we need six of them.
If anybody can help, we would very much appreciate any donations towards them.
Please visit our PayPal or visit us at the sanctuary.
